A Map to Black Studies Collection

Black Geographies, Black Louisiana, and U.S. South

The "Black Geographies, Africa, Louisiana, and U.S. South" subsection seeks to facilitate a discussion about he cultural and spatial experiences of Black people. The books here focus on the regions and diverse cultures that are instrumental in the building of Black identity. Without an understanding of these geographies, it is difficult to fully grasp the context in which Black communities grow and the unique experiences that have. These spatial cultures are perhaps most often recognized in regions such as the continent of Africa and the U.S. South, however the experiences reach across the diaspora.

The materials found in this subsection discuss the importance of these regions and how spatial concerns impact the lived experiences fo people. Expect to find various accounts of cultures in Africa, the South, and Louisiana, as well as analyses of the land itself.
