Logging On
In order to submit items to the IR, account users need to log into the system. The LOGIN link is located at the bottom of each page on the IR website.
Users will be redirected to the login page, where they will type in their username and password. IR administrators provide new users with a username and initial password (this must be changed upon first log in).
Once logged in, follow these steps to submit materials to the IR.
Step 1
Navigate to the affiliated department or research center by clicking Collections or Browse at the top of the page. Users can also type the name of the department/center in the search engine.
Step 2
Once inside the appropriate folder, go to the four tabs at the top of the page and click Manage. Users will be directed to a new page.
Step 3
Click Add an object to this Collection.
Step 4
Users will be asked to select a content model; select the content model that best fits the format of the submitted content (Document, Book, Video, PDF, etc.), and then click Next.
Step 5
Do not worry about uploading a MARCXML record. Simply click Next.
Step 6
Add any appropriate metadata. Once finished, click Next.
Step 7
Upload the content and then press Ingest.
Once items are ingested, IR administrators conduct reviews for acceptable formatting and general adherence to research guidelines. Once deemed acceptable, the items are made accessible.
IR administrators can also submit materials on behalf of users. Send the content to Edith Garland Dupré Library's Digitization Archivist.
Setting Embargoes
Some publishers require authors to set embargoes on their content. This means the item will be inaccessible for a certain period of time. To set an embargo on the IR, wait until the content is uploaded. Once uploaded, go to the item landing page and click the Manage tab. Click the Embargo tab on the right. Set how long the embargo will last.
