Nicolas Cage was born Nicholas Coppola in 1964 in Long Beach, California. [1] Cage is the nephew of famed film auteur Francis Ford Coppola, which may certainly contribute to his intense, often called idiosyncratic, dedication to his craft. [2] His debut film role was a small one in Amy Heckerling's 1982 classic Fast Times at Ridgemont High. [1] But remember, there are no small roles, only small actors, and Cage quickly became known for his distinctive acting style. Never understated, and always daring, Cage has starred in many films both winners and losers, including 1995's Leaving Las Vegas, for which Cage won an Academy Award. [2] With popular memes stemming from his iconic performances in films such as Vampire's Kiss (1988), em>Con Air (1997), The Wicker Man (2006), many of Cage's notoriously bad films (but not necessarily bad performances) have become cult classics.
